random prose

Though trees are still bare and skeletal out my window
The wind is beginning to lose its bitter edge -
Mellowing out, blowing with the promise of more warmth to come.
Chemical reaction of ice to water to steam
Offer a slow, silent education to anyone bothering to pay attention.
Gray sky blends in to the gray earth
While green patiently waits its turn.
But I'm not so patient waiting for it.
No subtlty to the seasons here -
Each asserts itself with a swiftness and force
Leaving me reeling in shock and awe.
Looking forward, always forward,
Praying away winter's reluctance to really leave.
